Carmine’s- Palm Beach

Although Florida is not known for its pizza, I still have to satisfy my cravings when I’m in town on business. Beth (a coworker & friend) was talking about my blog to our client, and he insisted that we try Carmine’s near Palm Beach Gardens. How could we protest? 🙂 Ron & his wife have been living in Florida for some time now, and they often visit Carmine’s because of the comfortable homestyle Italian dining. They also enjoy live entertainment on the weekends at this joint along the inter-coastal.

Along with some great wine, Beth & I split a LARGE pizza… and this was quite large. ½ was for me, and ½ was for Beth. Their menu boasted a list of appx. Ten pizza combos, along with a make-your-own option.

Lou Malnati’s

This one is for all of my friends who claim that Lou’s is the best pizza in Chicago. I love Lou’s and always have, but as I was growing up, I was always a bit peeved at my friends because they were OBSESSED… but I am an equal opportunity pizza lover. Anyway, a new Lou Malnati’s popped up in the Gold Coast next to the Cedar Hotel. You can imagine my excitement when I turned the corner from my apartment to see a ‘Coming Soon’ sign for Lou’s in my neighborhood. Lou Malnati’s officially opened July 4th, but Jon & I were invited to check it out a few days before as the staff was getting acclimated.

Pizza Executive Summit

Have you ever watched the Oscar’s on TV and thought “If only I was there with my favorite celebrities”? That was kind of like my experience back in June at the Pizza Executive Summit in Chicago. I am only aware of two pizza-related business events: The Pizza Expo in Vegas (on my list for next year) and the more operator-focused Pizza Executive Summit.

Coalfire Pizza

Coalfire PizzaI recently had the opportunity to join a group of pizzeria owners, operators, etc. at the Pizza Executive Summit in Chicago. It was a fun-filled experience that lasted from Sunday-Tuesday, and I was so excited to be a part of it. I will be posting more details on the event, but wanted to highlight the first part of the trip with Chicago Pizza Tours. John Porter led our private group of appx 35 participants to three pizzerias around the city on a trolley! Our first stop was Pizano’s and the last stop was Bacino’s, both places I have written about in the past. I wanted to dedicate this post to our experience at Coalfire Pizza in the West Loop.
