First of all: the bread. Why, carbs, why? Why must the most basic thing be so satisfying. It’s like this french bread was infused with a garlic butter, and the smooth taste is a great starter to the meal.
Appetizers. We’ve tried all the salads. Caesar, House, Arugula, Caprese. They are individually portioned, but can be shared if you’re trying to eat sparingly. They have a nice bruschetta with olives etc as well.
Entrees. We’ve had a variety of entrees, from pastas, to fresh fish, to steak. They are prices well enough for Bermuda… $26-32, and pastas under $20. They also have pizzas on the menu (from $13-16) and I think they are one of my favorites on the island thus far.
The crust is cracker thin and crispy, the sauce is light, and the cheese is perfect. We had the pepperoni, but it was a bit too greasy, so I wouldn’t recommend it, but all the others are top notch. On this night, we had their simple margherita. Since we were sharing, they split it for us. I must say, it was heaven… It’s one of those pizzas that you really should eat by yourself because you’re depressed after you get through the first half and there’s no more. Also, it is perfectly suitable as a meal-size portion for one person.
Dessert: All’s well that ends well, right? Well unfortunately, we ate TOO light for this meal! I had to order a dessert. We’ve had the molten chocolate Tortini al Cioccolato before, so we went for something else. Sticky Toffee Pudding- Moist sponge cake drenched in toffee sauce, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This scared me at first, but it was decadent and not too ‘drenched’. We devoured it within minutes.
So there you have it… Head to Rustico. It’s worth it even if you have to drive over from town. Just be sure to make a reservation and request indoors or out!
