Blue Moose- Vail, Colorado

I was so lucky to spend a weekend in Colorado with my mom & my sister on a recent ski trip! We went to a variety of restaurants for dinner, and on our last night in the mountains, we stopped at The Blue Moose. They have locations in Beaver Creek and Vail, and we tried the Vail location at Lionshead Village. As expected, the place was packed. We put our name down and waited 20 minutes or so until our table was ready. It was funny because my mom was craving the ZA more than I was, so I knew we had to wait patiently!

Bar Toma

On my first day back in Chicago (after a few weeks of travel), I was anxious to check out the new Bar Toma, a restaurant opened in place of Bistro 110. Tony Mantuano, a famous chef and owner of Spiaggia created the pizzeria-bar-mozzarella-gelato extravaganza and has has been receiving great reviews. Sara and I stopped in for lunch mid-week. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, and we decided to sit at the pizza bar where we could see all the action. Also, the Chef de Cucina, Erik Freeberg, was at the pizza bar to provide insight and cooking entertainment.

Ovenella- Boca Raton, FL

Well my parents have found a new pizza place. It’s located across from the Royal Palm strip mall in Boca Raton, right near my mom’s boutique. Ovenella hasn’t been open for too many months, but if there were issues before, they seem to have worked out the kinks. Ovenella is a full restaurant with a pizza oven and a full page of pizzas. The waiter told me their list used to be larger and it was originally marketed as a pizzeria, but they couldn’t handle the demand with the size of their oven.

I recently spent a nice meal with my some of the only Braude’s left in Chicagoland- Julia, Kevin, and Cheryl. The cousins (sans MSU rockstar, Josh) picked me up at the train station in Northbrook, IL, and we stopped over at Marcello’s, A Father & Son restaurant, for some family food.

I have driven past this pizzeria so many times, and now that Jon is living in the Southport Corridor, it was quickly added to my “Must Try” list. D’Agostino’s is located on Addison & Southport, a short walk from Wrigley Field (three other locations exist). The bar-restaurant gets pretty crowded on game days, but we arrived late at night, so I couldn’t judge the traffic volume.

We pre-ordered two medium thin-crust pizzas and they were ready shortly after we got there. Jon, Sal, and I devoured the two pizzas and were happy and full.
