I met a man on a recent flight to Bermuda who has been working on the island for over a year and flies back and forth quite often. He invited Jon & me to dinner at his favorite spot, Blu, since it is right near his cottage. The restaurant has sushi, Italian, American, and Asian food on its menu, so there was plenty to choose from… almost too much!
Swizzle inn, swagger out… that’s the motto of this timeless pub that’s been around forever in Bermuda. If you are in town, this is a TOP dining/drinking attraction, and it’s not to be missed. There are two locations: the original is near the airport, and the other is on the other side of the island on South Shore Rd. They are famous for their Rum Swizzle, Bermuda’s national drink. It’s a great place to stop by before a flight or once you arrive. The food is reasonably priced and the swizzle is stellar:). As you may know, Bermuda is a small island. There’s downtown Hamilton with a handful of restaurants, resorts with their own cuisine, and a few little spots scattered around the island. Rustico is one of them. It is located in Flatt’s Village, aside the takeout joint Upper Crust (now names Four Star) and Indigo Restaurant. That’s it: 3 restaurants. But Rustico is just lovely. There are some SLIM pickings in Bermuda, so finding new places with quality pizza is difficult. Finding a place that delivers out of town is even tougher. Upper Crust is a chain of carryout restaurants located in multiple parishes on the island. The Flatt’s village location is closest to Jon’s apartment, and when I [...] I was so lucky to celebrate my birthday in Bermuda with Jon. I arrived late Thursday night on a flight from Florida, so we had some oven-made pizza and wine. On Friday, we dined at Portofino, an Italian restaurant in downtown Hamilton. |
