Ranalli’s

Home sweet ‘alexi’s couch’. I made a last-minute trip to Chicago, and spent Thursday night on Alexi, Danny, & Kevin’s couch watching TV and eating pizza. I ordered in Ranalli’s extra thin crust ZA with some fresh mozz. It truly was super thin with a tomato-paste-like sauce. So yes, only downside was flavorless sauce, but all else was great. Needless to say, I polished off the medium pizza on my own. I have not done something like this in a long time… the combination of relaxing, quiet time, and delivery pizza made for a perfect evening.

Welcome to Chicago, Felicia!

Riccardo Enoteca

I was so happy to be surrounded by friends to celebrate my belated birthday in Chicago.

We dined at Riccardo Enoteca and enjoyed their small plates and pizzas. Although we were a large group, once they got into the swing of things, service was attentive. We drank plenty of wine and loved the bread on the table. We really enjoyed our meal, and the price was reasonable when split across a group of people.

The pizzas are thicker and remind me of a fancier version of Sweet Tomatoes focaccia bread pizza. The edges are charred against the pan, the crust is light and fluffy, and the toppings don’t weigh down the pizza in any way. This also reminded me of the pizza al taglio, pizza by the slice, in Italy. The crust is thick and flavorful, like bread, and the toppings are generous. Although I love sauce on my pizza, I think they chose to apply sparingly in order to preserve the stability of the crust. I was willing to make that compromise. :)

Pizzeria Da Nella

Anarella Pizza!

I was so happy to see my long lost friends Audrey & Anna. Since I travel so much, it is hard to get in touch with people every weekend I’m in Chicago. I was so happy that the girls were up for some pizza and drinks, so we met at Pizzeria da Nella Cucina Napoletana, about ¼ mile from the Fullerton red line stop. Continue reading Pizzeria Da Nella

Balena

I was so happy to spend some time in Chicago after Labor Day weekend. A handful of girlfriends got together for an early meal at Balena, a place I have been wanting to check out for a while. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with high ceilings and a warm & rustic feeling.

Marcello’s

I recently spent a nice meal with my some of the only Braude’s left in Chicagoland- Julia, Kevin, and Cheryl. The cousins (sans MSU rockstar, Josh) picked me up at the train station in Northbrook, IL, and we stopped over at Marcello’s, A Father & Son restaurant, for some family food.
