Sono Wood Fired

I have been meaning to try this place for a long long time… Sono Wood Fired is located at the North/Clybourn Red Line stop, and right across the street from the gorgeous new apple store in Lincoln Park. It is owned by the same owner of Urban Burger Bar, and they recently finished up a Groupon promotion. Just as the name suggests, Sono wood fired makes wood-fired italian pizza with clever topping combinations and intriguing appetizers.

Jon & I arrived here right in the middle of a rainstorm, and we vowed to drink & eat our way through the rain in order to avoid any further suffering 🙂 We each ordered our own flight of wine because the Thursday special has a white or red flight for $10! Hard to resist, I know.

Lou Malnati’s

This one is for all of my friends who claim that Lou’s is the best pizza in Chicago. I love Lou’s and always have, but as I was growing up, I was always a bit peeved at my friends because they were OBSESSED… but I am an equal opportunity pizza lover. Anyway, a new Lou Malnati’s popped up in the Gold Coast next to the Cedar Hotel. You can imagine my excitement when I turned the corner from my apartment to see a ‘Coming Soon’ sign for Lou’s in my neighborhood. Lou Malnati’s officially opened July 4th, but Jon & I were invited to check it out a few days before as the staff was getting acclimated.

Bye Bye Francesca’s Pizzeria

It was a sad day last week when I got word that Francesca’s Pizzeria Napoletana had closed for good. No more name changing or branding for that location, just closed. I am especially sad because I had held my first tweetup there, and it was a success! Many people raved about the pizza and […]

Francesca’s Pizzeria #PizzaTweetup

This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to host my first #tweetup (twitter meetup, gathering, event) at Francesca’s Pizzeria Napoletana. Approximately forty guests attended, a great number even though the cold thunderstorm was underway.

The night went off without a hitch. At 4:00pm, people started coming through the doors to the restaurant, anxious for […]
