Adventures through my 2016 NYC trip were highlighted by a visit to the institution L&B Spumoni Gardens. The rainy day didn’t stop us from visiting, and it wasn’t too busy that Friday afternoon We had some sicilian square slices and thin pie slices as well. I didn’t love the sweet sauce, but loved the crunchy square. Glad I got to try it, along with some famous Spumoni, but it won’t be a place I rush back to… just not my top spot!
Sicilian Pie fresh out of the oven!!
Check out that steam rising from the pie! And slicing with a knife! Epic!
Cheesey, saucey, sicilian :)
Scott & some slices!

On a trip to Portugal, we stopped off to check out a waterside #pizza spot. It was crowded and seating was pseudo-family-style… the oven was churning out plenty of pies.
We had a crazy pizza with figs and it was quite awesome! Also the margherita with grape tomatoes was nice. Not a crispy crust, but loved the char. Fun to experiment with fun toppings at this place!!
Large oven. small prep space
Over the summer, we were in Milwaukee for Jon’s best friend’s wedding! It was a weekend full of love and we enjoyed catching up with old friends. We made a stop at Zaffiro’s, a pizza joint that’s been around since 1954! Classic salads (See comical video) and some satisfying pizzas! Their thin crust was epic. This is the type of thin crust pizza I love… and it was great to have a some meat pizzas and veggie options. YUM. Highly recommend it, and very affordable!
The crew outside Zaffiro’s. Great signage
Our friend helped out a delivery guy and watched his cart! Serious concentration
1/2 pepp, 1/2 sausage. LOVED the sauce too.

On our visit to Portugal, we were lucky to check out some pizzerias along with visiting one of the top Michelin restaurants in the country. Belcanto is run by top chef Jose Avilez, and he opened a pizza spot called Pizzaria Lisboa.
The space seats approximately 40 guests, is comfy and casually designed, and was filled with many locals enjoying an afternoon snack. We started with their ‘cover’ bread plate, which included breadsticks, pizza bread, fresh olive oil, olives, and dips. All lovely to kickstart our meal. As placemats, they had round cork trivets, which I enjoyed! Enjoyed a simple thin pizza with salami… and beers! Salud Portugal
